sla and dlp

Hello everyone! Today, we are going to learn about something really awesome: 3D printing. You may have not even heard of SLA and DLP 3D printing. These are two different forms of three-dimensional reproduction which is making objects that you can hold in your hand and look at from literally all sides. To understand these methods better lets dive into how they are different from each other!

What Do These Terms Mean First of all let's take a brief about what these terms actually are and then go ahead. SLA is short for Stereolithography. This would be a process that creates an object by using the laser. It does this by making the laser point at a type of liquid called resin that changes form when hit with the laser beam (it hardens). Layer by layer, the laser builds up a molded object. That stands for Digital Light Processing on the other hand. This method also involves liquid resin, and instead of laser, light projector is responsible for curing. Light is used to project an image of the object on a layer of resin all at once, allowing for faster printing.

SLA vs. DLP

So, you may ask what the most significant difference is between these two methods. The method of solidifying the resin to physically create an object is one key difference. SLA sets a laser targeting one point at a time. Therefore microscopic designs are possible. DLP, on the other hand, illuminates an entire layer simultaneously. This can be faster than SLA, but it might not catch every little details as good as with SL A Now, where SLA is famous for precision and accuracy DLP comes with high speed.

SLA and DLP printing both offer some great advantages. These are great for doing detailed works that require a very high accuracy because you usually want what gets out of them to look just perfect. They are also perfect if you require a product only for few copies before doing mass production. This is helpful in the industries which looks to test a design before scaling it down.
